When I saw the image of Jennifer Lawrence rocking a pair of Chinos and a crop top on the Who What Wear website last week, I felt seen.

I’m a trousers girl through and through. Don’t get me wrong – I definitely wear my fair share of dresses and jeans, and love to indulge in a new dress trend every now and again. But at the end of the day, trousers of all shapes and sizes form the backbone of my wardrobe and I don’t plan on curbing my obsession any time soon.

Chinos are an absolute wardrobe staple due to their versatility, relaxed silhouette and how comfortable they are to lounge around in, day or night. What’s even better is that they make the perfect transitional trousers ease you back into the casual workwear flow, and can be worn with everything from sweatshirts to crop tops (see above) to button downs.

Meetings? Sure? A date? Yes! Casual Fridays at work? Of course! Hanging around with mates? Perfect. When it came to styling my own version of this trend, I stuck to neutral tones and minimal accessories – keeping it nice and simple and finishing off with some hi-top all white Vans.

Whether you’re looking for flared, cigarette style or balloon tapered chinos, the good news is that within the plus size scope, there are a variety of styles to cater to your every need. Check below for some of my faves (which all happen to be from ASOS – what can I say? They fit the best!)
