I have suffered with poor eyesight since the age of 11, and since then, have been wearing glasses to help with my short-sightedness. Wearing glasses has always been my safety blanket, and to be honest I was somewhat grateful for the fact that my eyes were bad, as this meant I could hide one of my major physical insecurities at all times: my eyes. I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with my peepers; they are quite circular, very large and bulge quite a bit and to this day, I still kind of see them as my least favourite feature.

Since climbing aboard the train of self-love however, I had been constantly trying to make an effort to embrace them, and in doing so, I decided to opt for contact lenses a few years ago. I chose to receive monthly contact lenses, and these were the lenses that I had been using up until a couple of weeks ago.

My main issue with the lenses I used to wear was that because the actual lens was so thick (as they were created to be worn every day for a month), they irritated my eyes greatly, and I couldn’t wear them for more than 3 hours or I would begin to get a headache. Eventually, I only really wore them if I was going out for an event, going ‘out’ out, or doing blog shoots. Such a waste of money, right? I’m also very lazy in that I hate the process of cleaning lenses. Sometimes, all you want to do when you get home is take them out and sleep and a lot of the time, I’d take them out, put them in the case and leave it at that And It’s been this way for YEARS!

Anyhoo, I decided at that point that I wanted to try something new; laser eye surgery will never be on the cards for me as I’m such a wimp when it comes to lasers and sensitive areas on the body, and I just love the convenience of contacts, so I decided to try out the Focus Dailies One Day contact lenses from Vision Direct.

Lemme tell you: there’s such a huge difference between getting contact lenses from your optician and ordering from Vision Direct. With my monthlies, everything had to be done over the phone or in person and seeing as my optician is located about 5 miles away from me, getting my prescription checked or contact lens checks were inconvenient to say the least.

The good thing about ordering with Vision Direct is that not only do they carry the same contact lens brands as high street opticians, you can often get them at a better price, as well as take advantage of their next day delivery service. Reordering contacting lenses is also accessible and simple, as you can do it via email or via text. I’m a fan of variety, so these options please me greatly, I’ll tell ya!

The first thing you notice about these lenses is how soft and thin they are. Like, honestly they feel like nothing at all. They attach onto the eye like a dream and once in, I forget that they are in there. I don’t get that grainy feeling like I did with my previous ones, neither do I get what I like to call ‘lack of eye oxygen headaches‘ that I’d normally get after 3 hours of wear. Even if my eyes do start to feel a little weary, I use the Everclear Eye Drops which helps lubricate and hydrate/re-wet the eyes and I’m normally good to go after that.

I’m such a huge fan of these lenses, and I can’t for the life of me understand why I haven’t been on these sooner. The comfort level is amazing and now I can live my best eyesight life without the headaches or scratchiness!
