So this has been a really long time coming. Something I’ve put off for about three years, as I didn’t feel ready to do it, but know we’ve arrived here and…it is what it is.
A little bit of a rebrand innit?
As you can see by the change of URL and website, I am no longer going by the moniker Nerd about Town, a name that has served me well for the past 10 years. I’m now rebranding to my actual real-life God-given name, Stephanie Yeboah.
Yay me!
This doesn’t really warrant a whole blog post, but a bitch is emotional, okay? I’ve had this name for 10 years! The name/brand almost took on a life of its own. I still have people call me ‘Nerd about Town’ when they see me in public.
I won’t lie – I did do a bit of a cry while changing my domain name, but I feel like at this point in my life, it’s a necessary change for me. It may not seem like a big deal for some, but there were times when I definitely used Nerd about Town as a bit of a security blanket; limiting myself to just a plus size fashion/lifestyle and beauty blogger and not really wanting to venture outside of those parameters. I’ve always been happy just plodding on, talking about the material things that make me happy, but I’m 30 now. I’m writing a book. I’m speaking on panels. I’m writing articles for great publications. I’m appearing on TV and radio. I’m helping fight towards a common goal. I do more than just influencing now, and I think it’s about time that it reflects in my name and brand, which is – me. Honest. Raw. Random. Funny (yes I am funny regardless of what anyone says ok? ok), Passionate, Awesome.
Nerd about Town had an amazing run, and it definitely isn’t dead. It – as well as myself – has evolved into something bigger and I’m really excited about what the future holds!
Anyhoo, let’s pour some liquor for Nerd, we did good things, but onwards and upwards now!
