I think I stopped buying my Mum flowers for Mothers Day about 4 or 5 years ago.
My Ma, I’ve found, can be quite difficult to buy for as she’s one of these people that asks for the same thing EACH year. “Oh just get me a cheap beauty set from Boots!”, “I want some stuff from Lush” but me being me, I’d always spruce it up with a cheeky bouquet just to brighten her day. After years of trying to come up with exciting/different Mothers day ideas and failing, I went into my Mum’s room a few years ago and the answer slapped me square in the face.
On her dressing table, were dozens of perfume bottles, most of them unopened. They were all arranged by height (my Mum has a thing about arranging bottles by height ha) and by fragrance bottle colour. It was that day that I found out that my Mum loves to collect fragrances to display on her very pretty glass dressing table.
So, instead of gifting my Mum the usual flowers and chocolate (or, to be honest, alongside the flowers and chocolate), I started gifting my Mum perfumes and she absolutely loves it! What’s funny is that she still has fragrances from 3-4 years ago that she STILL hasn’t opened because ‘they are too pretty to use yet’.
Oh Mum.
Anyhoo, the reason for this post is that we all know Mothers Day is coming round the corner in a couple of weeks and yet again, a fragrance is on the cards for her. She’s very much into strong scents, so this year I’ll be opting for theĀ Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau de Parfum fragrance from Fragrance Direct.
The name of this fragrance really does say it all, doesn’t it? I mean…the bottle itself is BEAUTIFUL! The fragrance comes in a velvet-esque lined box (fancy), with the lid stored separately. Once put together, you find that the perfume resembles a fancy looking bag. I won’t lie, the bottle really excites me. The addition of the gold plated chain and tasselĀ just screams decadence and looks beautiful on a dressing table.
As for the scent itself, if you’re into woody scents, you’re going to love this. It has a sexy and sophisticated scent that is also quite rich and includes top notes of plum, saffron and iris. Base notes include papyrus wood and liquid amber. Upon application, you REALLY get a strong burst of the plum and amber, and it stays on for a good 4-5 hours which, longevity-wise, is really good.
I just know my mum is going to absolutely love this – like she will literally scream when she sees the bottle and I cannot wait! If you’re stuck for Mothers Day gift ideas, it’s well worth checking out Fragrance Direct as not only do they have a broad range of fragrances, you can also end up saving a few bob too!
