Elvi Coords

Not every Summer minimal clothing. Sometimes comfy & floaty pieces.

If the last few days are anything to go by, I think we can officially announce the Summer months are rolling in! It calls for ice lollies in the park, short-shorts, sleeveless tops and bardot dresses…right?

If you’ve been a long time reader of Nerd about Town, you’ll probably know that I’ve always been a fan of not wearing a lot, whenever I can. I’m a lover of getting my legs out and all that jazz, however it’s important to note that not everyone has reached that point in their style journey, for whatever reason that may be. Not all of us will be fans of summer dresses and/or showing off skin and that’s totally valid and definitely OK.

So then how do we solve the dilemma of staying cool in Summer without showing any skin?

The key for me has always been introducing oversized, wide and floaty pieces into the wardrobe. Boxy tailored blouses, palazzo/wide legged pants, and oversized dresses are a must for when you don’t feel like burning in the sun! Remember, oversized does not have to mean frumpy. Take for instance what I’m wearing in this post, I channeled last season’s pajama trend with this gorgeous Elvi Co-ord set in the form of this striped boxed top and wide leg trousers.

The co-ord set is simply effortless and flowy, and can be worn with some white sneakers (I’ve popped on some white Chuck Taylors here) or some strappy heels for a night time look. I love wearing oversized/roomy pieces in summer as you still have room to manoeuvre and feel cool during the day, while still looking stylish as hell and if it’s one thing that Elvi know how to do, it’s premiere tailoring.

I’m really into reflective shades at the moment; I have a large head so I often find it difficult to get sunglasses for me in general, however I find that ASOS do really good wide fit ones (especially in their menswear section). The ones I’m wearing here have unfortunately sold out, however you can find a great selection of reflective sunglasses on eBay, so you can stunt this summer to your heart’s content!

WIDE FIT.

  1. Yes!!! This perfect – I’m off to Marrakesh in a few months and its not culturally appropriate to show shoulders, arms, legs etc outside of the hotel. Something like this would be perfect – you have inspired me!

Oh I love it, you look so stylish and cool – which is perfect for this hot weather we’ve been having! I’ve never really experimented with looser styles like this, but I love how it looks on you and I can imagine it’s so much cooler and comfier than the skinny black jeans I always seem to wear, so I will have to try out some similar styles. Absolutely love your blog too, can’t believe I’ve only just found it! – Tasha
