Disclaimer: I’m not trying to be controversial and I’m definitely not ‘complaining’, i’m just speaking from my recent observations, conversations with other bloggers and my mind!

Now i’m not sure about other bloggers/readers, but I feel as if the BB community is way too cliqued, with the most popular bloggers/gurus sorta segregating themselves away from those with ‘less’ followers/traffic etc, not to say they do it on purpose; I hope they don’t, but it’s just a trend i’ve been noticing on twitter/blogs etc and I think this causes a lot of upcoming bloggers to be a bit intimidated by them.
Not intimidated in regards to “omg they are really powerful and scary” but I have been talking to quite a few bloggers on this issue and a lot do feel a bit… hesitant to introduce themselves or talk to some of the popular bloggers because to be quite frank, it does sort of seem like some sort of secret club.

I’ve been blogging for nearly 2 years now and i’ve definately felt this way, sometimes still do; there are a few bloggers who i feel i’d really get on with and hang out with because they are just full of awesome..but I tend to feel a bit left out of the loop so I kind of back off I suppose (contrary to popular belief, I’m a bit shy lmao!) , which is why I think it’s AWESOME that London Beauty Queen has set up ‘The Only Way is Blogging’ event for ALL bloggers-regardless of popularity, whether you get invited to industry events or not, traffic etc, to come out for the day and meet other bloggers, chill, laugh and just have a gay ole’ time!
I was thinking about planning an event like this for lesser known bloggers but LBQ beat me to it haha!

The event will be taking place on the 16th of July in Holborn at noon! For further details and to RSVP, click here.

'The Only Way Is Blogging' Event – Details

    I'm not a beauty blogger but I've blogged for related industries and I do frequent beauty blogs and YT channels. What I can say about this is that this type of "cliqueing" is true for any industry and also applies to society as a whole. Rich people most often have rich friends, and vice versa. So it's no surprise that popular bloggers are only "friends" with popular bloggers. Within any industry, that is the case.

    Every popular blogger was once unknown, they paid the price and got to where they are today. A very successful and popular blogger from a non beauty related industry gave me the advice to focus on cultivating relationships with other bloggers who are "on your level". That way, you can grow together and support eachother and if bloggers in your circle become well known they will still give you recognition and "share" their success with you if you've managed to cultivate "real" friendships with them.

    So, don't focus so much on the social hierarchy of things. Focus on building genuine relationships with bloggers who are open to relationships and accessible to you while you do your thing.

    Cheers,

    AJ

    I think that is such a great idea… to have all bloggers meet and greet and just get to know each and have a great time aint thats what we are on here for.?

  3. steph says:

    @aj, wise words!

    The aim of the post wasn't to cause any offence whatsoever and I can totally understand what you mean and it is true that cliques run in all sorts of social circles; but sometimes it is a bit harder to integrate with other people because it does seem a bit closed off at times but I'm really happy that this event is taking place as itll allow everyone to integrate!
