Is it just me, or is check print having a bit of a moment right now? As with the polka dot frenzy before it, check print is back, and is currently most frequently seen on blazers and jackets, however, the detail has graduated to leggings, asymmetrical tops, and floaty dresses. Checks are by nature an Autumnal trend, but the preppy print can certainly work for Summer too.

Check print is also one of the most adaptable patterns out there now: it’s the perfect smart-casual print to wear for and after work and it goes really well with other clashing prints also!

This Prince of Wales coordinate set by Elvi strikes the perfect balance of smart casual for me; the neutral tones lay a lovely foundation from which you can build vibrant colours, a multitude of different textures, or you wanna keep it simple like me, plain black T-shirts. I didn’t really get into the fluted sleeve trend last year, so it’s nice to have a little something going with the cuffs on the blazer. I’m a real stickler when it comes to pockets: I love them, so I did find it a little bit of a shame that some weren’t included on the blazer but overall, I’m just loving the chic, Metropolitan vibe I get from this set!
