If you follow me on Twitter, you would have probably come across one of my many rants regarding the lack of darker high street foundation shades available in the UK. Recently there have been several print media outlets (such as Stylist Magazine) who have highlighted the lack of racial diversity when it comes to makeup and general beauty; Frankly, not enough is being done to include or extend skintone shades with makeup bases and it’s bloody frustrating! So imagine my surprise and delight a couple of weeks ago when I popped into Boots and saw this gem on the shelf? The B. Even Oil Control Foundation is currently a steal at only £5.49 and has an extended colour range that ACTUALLY includes my skin tone! So more on the foundation: The Moroccan argan kernal base contains skin loving ingredients such as SPF 15,vitamin E and my new favourite ingredient, hyaluronic acid which attracts water from the atmosphere to the outermost layer of the skin and can hold up to a thousand times its weight in water giving about 10 hours of hydration. I purchased ‘Chocolate (100)’ which I believe is the darkest shade within the collection (I am a MAC shade NW50 for reference). I had very low expectations before using the foundation as due to previous experience, I had assumed that this would probably be too light or too thick for me too. B.Even Oil Control foundation
I have absolutely fallen in love with this product. No word of a lie:
– The shade matches my skin perfectly.
– While the formula looks thicker than most, It’s extremely light on the skin and dries to a matte base.
NO MORE SHINY T ZONE.
I’ve taken to applying the foundation with a beauty blender as I’m not a fan of the whole caked look. I find that this foundation gives me the ‘she’s not wearing foundation’ look that I so often strive for and prefer. It’s an interesting one this foundation though; what I’ve also come to notice is that while it keeps my face matte, there are also parts of my face that give off a dewy look, which isn’t entirely bad. I’ve worn this foundation in the blistering heat, expecting to see an avalanche of brown goo rolling down my face once within the shade but to my surprise, I never see a bead of sweat. This is impressive.
(Please ignore my uneven face in these photos, I was trying out that ‘baking/contouring’ method and failed horribly.)

Final thoughts:
I’m extremely impressed with the quality and longevity of this product. For a mere fiver I’m getting a great product that manages to keep oil at bay while creating a matte and even base (which lasts for a good while). That’s all I’ve ever asked for in a foundation. If you’re a fan of heavy coverage, this may be for you as it can pack quite a punch if you use around 3 pumps of this stuff, however I only use half of, or 3 quarters of 1 pump for a full face (then use my Ben Nye Topaz & Banana powder to finish).
I think it’s amazing that Superdrug have bitten the bullet and have extended their foundation line. It’s a shame that these occasions are a rarity at best, but here’s hoping that other high street stores and brands take notice and begin to follow in their footsteps. There is an astronomical need for darker shade extensions for foundations, especially within the high street and I’m hoping that this foundation only serves as the beginning.
Now if you’ll excuse me, for £5.49 a bottle, I’m going to add truckloads into my online shopping basket…

I’ve heard about this range but never really thought to try it out, but frankly I’m sick of forking out for expensive brands for foundation. The cheapest I’ve found is one from No7 and even that is still £14 odd quid. Will definitely keep an eye out for this!

Sounds like a great foundation. I have a few b products but didn’t consider their foundation at all as I usually find it difficult to find the right shade. Great post Steph x
