It’s giving PARADISE, huns!!

Set within 600 acres of gorgeous beachfront, the Anse Chastanet Resort is the sister resort to Jade Mountain, which is just above, nestled within the cliffside. It’s giving LUXURY honey, and I really have come back home a changed woman. The resort features 49 individually designed rooms, with 12 of them nestled within a tropical garden at beach level, and the other 37 scattered within the hills. The idea behind the creation of the resort was that it is a place meant to blend into the landscape as naturally as possible. There are no swimming pools within the resort, as you have the beach at the very bottom.

Logistics/How To Get There

Anse Chastanet is located within the hills of the beautiful town of Soufriere, on the West Coast of Saint Lucia. The resort is between an hour and an hour and 10-minute drive from the airport, with transport being easily organised from the dedicated resort stand outside the arrivals area at the airport. The resort is around a 15 to 20-minute drive from the main town also.

Room

We were kindly given room 7F, also known as the Royal Palm room. It is one of the most beautiful rooms I’ve ever seen, featuring the famous three-walled/open fourth wall design, allowing guests to have an incredible panoramic view of the famous Piton mountains and the Caribbean sea.

The rooms come with all the amenities you would expect in a hotel room, alongside a lovely welcome gift of local Saint Lucian rums and Algarve honey, and locally made banana bread! The structure of the rooms are made with locally designed woods and materials, with artwork created by artists in the area. The rooms featured a double bed, a small coffee table with two chairs overlooking the view of the Pitons, a sofa/lounge area, ample wardrobe/drawer space and a desk. There are also Sago Palm plants all around the room, making my green-fingered heart very happy!

Fridges are stocked with tea and coffee-making facilities, and one complimentary bottle of water a day, measuring one litre. All the plug sockets use the British three-pronged plug, so no need to bring a converter UNLESS you have an electric toothbrush that uses two prongs.

There are many plug sockets in the rooms, however, in my room, the plug sockets weren’t accessible with regards to the desk and to the bed, to some extent, so something to take note of if you plan on taking your laptop. There aren’t any TVs in the bedrooms either, so something else to keep in mind. It was really lovely detaching from the news and current affairs, to be honest. Everything about the rooms encourages you to bond with nature, and it’s so quaint.

You’ll wake up by the wildlife outside the room, with everything from crickets, frogs and a variety of birds chatting throughout the night. It is very loud, but from a personal perspective, I didn’t mind as I *love* the sound of birds having a natter!

Cuisine

The cuisine is INCREDIBLY Vegan-friendly – not only do they have amazing seafood dishes on a daily basis, but they have a completely separate menu dedicated to vegan cuisine which is wonderful. They can also create gluten-free dishes for those who need it, and all their food is sourced locally from the local fishermen and butchers in the area, as well as the Emerald Estate: a farm owned by the resort that grows all the fruits, herbs, cocoa and vegetables for the guests to enjoy.

Service & Accessibility

The service was absolutely incredible and what you would expect from a luxury stay. The staff continuously go out of their way to make sure needs are met, and guests have the option to have a turn-down service at the end of each day. The staff are incredibly friendly, with many of them being employed at the hotel for some time

. Room service is not available on the property however, meaning that it’s a bit of a trek going up and down the 100+ stairs each time in order to get something to eat, but you can order a shuttle service to take you up and down the resort.

There is a large wellness spa with five treatment rooms, as well as a tennis court and fitness centre.

There are no phones in the room and instead, you are given a mobile phone to keep on you at all times. The phone has the main reception number saved automatically, and they will use this to call you as and when.

The resort is very very steep, there are no two ways about it. Due to it being located on the mountainside, it means that there’s quite a bit of walking up and down, especially for those wanting to visit the beach and beachside restaurant for lunch. Because of this, I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s that accessible for those who aren’t able-bodied or for those who have chronic pain/bad knees. As I said above, however, there are car/shuttle services that can take you from your room to wherever you need to go at the resort.

For the most part, it’s a place catering for couples, but families with children over the age of 10 can also visit the resort!
