When I received the email asking if I wanted to try some Charlotte Tilbury products two months ago, I was absolutely gobsmacked for minutes. Me? Little old me? I couldn’t actually believe it. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the brand’s skincare range, so I quickly said yes and received the beautifully packaged Gift of Goddess travel set (RRP: £39).
Now, I’m someone who has taken skincare extremely seriously, and I have a policy on my blog to trial any form of skincare for at least two months before posting a thorough, honest review which is why it has taken me so long to write! First up, let’s talk about what is included in the set. You get:
I also received an additional product: the Brightening Youth Glow Primer.
Wonder Glow is described as a ‘light-reflecting face primer’ which is supposed to uplift dull, dehydrated skin in an instant. The primer features ingredients to give the complexion an instant pick-me-up to create an effortlessly dewy look. It contains a state of the art fluorescent light diffuser core, which absorbs UV particles from the sun and reemits the energy as visible light, illuminating the skin.
Fancy innit?
The primer can be used on its own, or underneath a foundation. I have combination/oily skin, so any mention of a beauty product containing words like ‘illuminate’, ‘dewy’ or ‘glow’ instantly has me shook, I won’t lie. The product consists of a shimmery golden semi-thick liquid that really is quite beautiful. The light reflecting particles are quite vibrant, so instead of putting this all over my face, I apply this to my cheekbone area.
The first time I tried it I didn’t think I would see any difference, HOWEVER after I finished my face and applied highlighter, my cheekbones were POPPING.
I now use this sparingly, as it does have a tendency to venture into oily territory after a few hours. I would recommend this for normal to dry skin, however, if you have combination/oily skin like myself, I would use it on the areas of the face that you want to put some glow emphasis on, such as the cheekbones.
The Goddess Skin Clay Mask is described as a nourishing clay mask for dewy skin and is said to tighten pores, moisturise skin and clear imperfections.
I really really love this mask so much. Normally, I only tend to use clay masks twice a month, as although clay is good for detoxing the skin and drawing out impurities, therefore making it great for combination skin, I always find the process of applying and removing clay masks so tedious, as it hardens and feels uncomfortable.
The first time I used the Goddess Mask, I accidentally left it on for 90 minutes instead of 15. Why? Because I completely forgot that I had it on. The mask dries without cracking or hardening, which is incredible for a clay mask! I also feel like my skin is getting a good hydrating workout underneath, no doubt due to the essential oils and Frangipani flower extracts.
The mask is recommended for normal to dry skin, however, I don’t see why combination skin can’t reap the benefits of this product also. It’s a beautiful, gentle relaxing mask that leaves my skin looking bright, healthy and supple. A proper self-care treat when you’re not feeling 100%! Yes, the price is dear at £38.00 for 70ml, but to be honest, when it comes to skincare, I always try and opt for either premium brands or organic/natural brands, because it’s our skin innit. We have to take care of it! Also, a tip with this mask is that you don’t need a lot to cover your face at all; see it as an investment!
Now, THIS was the product that I was the most excited to try. Often hailed as the Holy Grail product of the brand, Charlotte’s Magic Cream is a multitasking facial moisturiser that contains anti-ageing ingredient BioNymph Peptide Complex, which is supposed to stimulate Collagen production, while fighting free radicals.
Other ingredients include hyaluronic acid, wild pansy extract, vitamin E, rosehip oil and camellia oil which helps lock in moisture. It is paraben free and it also contains an extra, secret ingredient which the public shall never know. Hmmm…
When it comes to skincare, I’ve found that I tend to spend the most on face moisturisers because…I just love a well-hydrated face and I believe that the moisturiser is the most important part of skincare. I’ve been known to spend upwards of £50 on well-researched face creams and have never regretted it. This cream is absolutely beautiful. BEAUTIFUL. I know see why it is so hyped up. If you follow me on Instagram, you’d have probably have seen my Instastory (which is still up as a highlight) where I showed off my bare skin and lamented on how amazing it looked.
I’ve seen SUCH a difference to my skin since using the cream. My skin is a lot more supple, it’s smooth, it looks vibrant and it feels baby smooth. I’m actually really annoyed that my tub has finished and that I have to wait until payday! I also sometimes use this underneath my makeup application and it goes on such a treat. My skin has seen such an improvement since using this and I can’t wait to get another tub.
Last but not least is the brightening youth glow primer which is similar to the wonder glow above. The primer is a colour correcting, moisturising primer with pearlescent pigments to even the skin tone and blur away blemishes.
Because my skin is dark, I don’t feel as if I get a lot of benefit from the anti-redness and colour correcting properties, as my skin doesn’t turn red and when colour correcting, I normally use orange/red pigments anyway. The primer does have a lovely pearly sheen to it, however, I find that when I use it underneath makeup, I don’t really see that much of a difference, aside from my face becoming quite shiny. I then tried using the product as a base for my highlighter (on top of my foundation) and again, it worked beautifully, so nowadays this is how I use the product and it works a treat!
Overall, I’m so impressed with the collection. I was a bit sceptical at first (as I always am when makeup brands create a skincare collection) but after trying the products for a couple of months, I am a total convert. My favourite product in this collection by far is the Magic Cream, and I cannot wait to get a full version of it because my skin is POPPING. Long may this continue!
