I am ashamed to admit this, but before getting my recent eye test done, my last eye test was nearly 4 years ago – meaning I’ve been wearing the same frames/prescription for double the recommended time *pitiful face*.
A couple of months ago, I decided enough was enough and decided to get my eyes re-tested. A lot of the time I rely on good old contact lenses for my blog photos, however seeing as I wear glasses 98% of the time, I was definitely due for a frame change – my Raybans had served me well (without bending or breaking, miraculously) but it was time for them to retire.
Unsurprisingly, during my exam I was told that my eyesight had changed quite a lot over the last 3 years and so instead of ordering and purchasing glasses through my optician, I decided to order a prescription pair through Glasses Direct, who kindly let me choose a frame I liked!
What’s great about Glasses Direct is that they have a ‘Home Try’ option, meaning you can choose up to four frames you like and they will send it you to see how well they suit your face for up to 7 days before returning it. In this case, I knew that I wanted to have a pair of frames that were totally out of my normal comfort zone, so I forwent the home try and opted for a pair of Maverick lenses by Scout Eyewear.
The ordering process was simple: you simply pick the frames you’d like and send in your prescription and the glasses should be sent to in about a week or so, which is actually pretty speedy for prescription glasses – a lot quicker than your average optician. Another great thing about Glasses Direct is that you have an overwhelming variety of different frames to choose from. From designer ranges to ranges more within your budget, there is definitely a pair to accommodate your needs.
As stated above, I decided to go for a bit of a different shape as I’m so used to having square frames (as they suit my round face shape). I wanted to go for something a bit more ‘out there’. Now granted, oversized aviator-style frames may not be normally considered as ‘wacky’ for most, but for someone with a round face like mine, it’s definitely a change!
The Maverick frames are exceptionally light, and the lens is very very thin. Considering that most opticians add an extra charge to shave down thick lenses, I think having an already-thin lens PLUS frames for £69 is a pretty big deal, no?
I’m absolutely in LOVE with these frames, and they seem to go really well with my new hair, no?! I’m pleasantly surprised with my purchase and I cannot wait to buy more prescription frames and sunglasses. Next time however, I think I will buy from the men’s section, as their frames are a bit wider. I have a wide ass face and these frames just above cover the width of it!
Frames from Glasses Direct are ever so affordable and they are always having great offers on, so it’s definitely worth having a browse for a pair!
