Who’d have thought that colouring books would come back to be the new ‘In’ thing again?! I’m all for hobbies that satisfy my inner child, and so when I found out that Joy* sold copies of Millie Marotta’s ‘Animal Kingdom’ colouring book, I WAS EXCITE.


I’ve found this colouring book to be very helpful of late in terms of creating a relaxing and peaceful environment and there have been several studies that show colouring can reduce stress and anxiety; something that seems to be at the most forefront of my mind at the moment.
Millie Marotta, a UK based Illustrator, has a series of three adult animal based colouring books with beautiful, extremely intricate patterns and drawings that are brought to life when coloured in. Now, I severely underestimated how long it would take me to colour in a full page; as I got into the actual colouring in, I realised that there were so many different compartments and spaces to fill and the drawing below took me approximately 4 hours to complete.



Not only are the books thoroughly entertaining and a great way to kill a few hours if you’re after a bit of “me” time, they also make pretty awesome coffee table books and would awesome as part of your room decor!
