So the Marilyn Monroe collection by MAC is finally out as you guys know and what I really wanted to get my hands on were a couple of the lipsticks. After seeing the swatches on The Sunday Girl Blog, I rushed out to see if I could get two of the lipsticks, specifically ‘Charmed, I’m Sure’ and ‘Deeply Adored’. 

They had sold out at all the Department stores in my area (Boo!) so I had to pop over to West London where they happily had them both in stock (Woo!).

 

There are five matte lipsticks within the collection which mostly consist of different shades of red and one nude and they all feature ‘exclusive’ photos of the main lady herself on the sides.

Charmed, I’m Sure is the lipstick that I’ve seen a lot of people talk about. After seeing a few swatches online, I was a bit apprehensive that it may not suit me, but now I think i’ve changed my mind. Charmed is a dark-ish red with slight blue undertones (although it looks pink on me; i think I have weird lips lol). I have found that these lipsticks feel a little too creamy to be considered matte though, say, compared to Ruby Woo for instance. There is a sheen to the lippie and I didn’t find it drying at all. The colour stayed on me for about 3 hours before it started to wear off, however it did leave a bit of a stain which, when topped up with lip balm, looked pretty nifty!

Deeply Adored is my personal favourite at the moment; It is another dark red lipstick however the dark/brown specks make it look more like a vampy red – almost. This shade is also moisturising and leaves a slight stain on the lips. I personally love darker reds as I feel that they best suit my skintone and brings out the yellow undertones (my skin undertone is red but for some reason, dark red lippies give my skin that yellow tinge).

On a whole, I’m really impressed with the texture and pigmentation of the lipsticks and I can’t wait to wear Deeply Adored especially, a lot more frequently!
