One of the customs of the UK beauty blogger when travelling abroad is to first make headway to the Holy Grail…to the beauty Mecca that is Sephora (seriously though, when are they going to open one over here?). While there, I picked up a few of their highly recommended lipsticks and decided to give them a bit of a rotation. The results were great. See below!
I decided to pick up a nude (Love Letter) and a red (Courtisane) as I’ve recently been lacking in both.
Packaging
The packaging is simple enough; a black plastic tube with the Sephora logo emblazoned in silver across the base. It also has a lipstick preview at the bottom of the tube. I don’t know what it is, but I love when I can see the little preview at the bottom – it just makes everything look a bit sleeker!
Colour & Texture
Love Letter is described as a warm, pink taupe. It’s very sheer and gives off a velvet finish with a gloss sheen. It’s light in texture and is buildable depending on personal preferences. The lipstick does have a bit of “slip” to it, so it may be wise to add a lip liner or even a powder underneath the lipstick to make it a bit more stable and matte.
Courtisane is part of Sephora’s “Rouge Creme” collection is described as a deep brick red and reminds me of MAC’s ‘Diva’ lipstick. It’s a dark, blood-red that has a slightly brown hue. It has a creamy texture that moisturises the lips and gives them an even finish. What I like about this lipstick is how incredibly creamy it is. Once applied, it stays on for a good 2-3 hours before leaving a faint stain.
Both colours have a great payoff and are highly pigmented. It’s such great value for money and it’s such a shame that we don’t have access to them in the UK as I would actually put them on par with some NARS lipsticks in terms of colour variety and pigmentation.
Yes, I'm adoring those shades – damn. Love Letter I'm down, gorgeous xo
Very pretty shades! I seriously win that they would open one here too!
