To be honest, I never thought there would be a time when I would be into the whole culottes trend. I remember when they were all the trend about 5 years ago and I just couldn’t understand how people could wear something which such a dodgy length, however fast forward five years and I have discovered a whole new love for them!
Yes, three quarter length trousers are kinda hard to get right, especially if you’re plus sized and may or may not have a FUPA because then you’ve got the whole high waisted “camel-toe” bunch up situation to contend with! When shopping for a pair of culottes, it’s important to think about the type of tailoring you’d like whether sharp or relaxed, length and waist height. Despite it’s interesting length, culottes are incredibly versatile, comfortable and easy to style.
Because my legs are slightly longer than my body, I tend to edge towards high waisted  structured culottes with the bottom sitting comfortably just below my knee. If going for a loose fit culotte, I like to get pairs that end just above my ankles. Culottes can be styled all types of ways: they can be paired with a sleeveless rollneck, with flat or heeled boots, it can be worn as a jumpsuit with a long sleeved lace blouse or you can just pair them with your favourite chunky knits on colder days!
