Vichy Idealia
We all know that a good night’s sleep can make or break how good you look and feel the next day. Unfortunately not all of us can be blessed with having a solid 8 hours sleep a day and so I was very excited when I was asked to review the Idealia Skin Sleep night gel balm by skincare giant Vichy. As a recovering insomniac, I rarely get more than 5 hours sleep a night and hate waking up the next day with my skin looking dull, lackluster and basically, groggy! Vichy’s first ever night gel balm claims to recreate the restorative effects of a deep sleep, by repairing and regenerating dull skin overnight by reducing the signs of fatigue and soothing the skin leaving you with a fresh, radiant complexion. Sounds amazing right? Can it be too good to be true?

Vichy Night cream
Ingredients:
Hyaluronic Acid – responsible for stimulating cell regeneration and hydrating and plumping the skin. Glycrryhizic Acid, which is a licorice extract with anti-inflammatory properties preserves the Hyaluronic acid in the skin.
LHS – Stimulates desquamation and helps to smooth and even out the outer layer of skin through its exfoliating action, improving the skins texture and leaving the skin more luminous.
Caffeine – Accelerates the skins microcirculation and helps to drain and decongest the skin to counter signs of fatigue.
Vitamin B3 – Reinforces the barrier function of skin and contains anti-inflammatory properties.
My thoughts:
It’s fair to say that Vichy have really done their homework when it comes to the indregients used as it packs quite a cosmetic punch. I’ve used the skin sleep gel every evening for a month now and my skin feels a lot more hydrated than before. The gel itself is very light and cool to the touch, although I did find that I had to use quite a lot in order for me to feel fully moisturised as my skin would feel quite tight at times after application.

I took the photos above as soon as I got out of bed (and washed the sleep out of my eyes, ahem) and I don’t think I look half bad! You couldn’t tell I’d only slept for 5 hours the previous night. My skin looks fresher, generally clearer and in pretty good condition; would I re-purchase this? The £22.50 price tag is a tad over my price limit for moisturisers (personally), however I think I would get this again as I honestly cannot argue with the results! I recommend it for those wanting to try a new night moisturiser and for those with sensitive skin too, as your skin will definitely thank you for it!
The Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep Gel is available at Escentual.
