Due to my skin shade, I typically tend to aim for blue, or cool-based pinks and reds such as ‘Ruby Woo’ and ‘Girl About Town’ as I find them the most flattering. This Summer however, I’ve decided to break protocol and opt for some warmer tones; this is mostly due to the fact that I have gone a shade darker due to the recent spells of sunshine and have noticed that tomato-reds are a thing that seems to suit me! I thought I would show you the two shades that I have been wearing the most of late, both together and separately.

Some time ago I picked up the sadly no longer available KIKO Limited Edition Free Spirit Cheek and Lip Pencil which is a semi-matte, deep red, very similar to Cruella by NARS. I must admit, I don’t really have that many pencil lipsticks/glosses in my makeup arsenal (apart from the Revlon ones which are AMAZING) as I can sometimes find them a bit chalky, however this red is pretty moisturizing and looks AMAZING on deep dark skintones!
On top of this, I have added Urban Decay’s Revolution High Colour Lipgloss in Punch Drunk, an ultra pigmented, high shine tomato red lipstick which matches the lip pencil perfectly. I’ve always admired the pigmentation of Urban Decay’s lip products and this is no different. The gloss texture is very light, but packs a punch where colour is concerned, so I’m happy! Below on the left is a swatch of my lips with the KIKO pencil, to the right is a swatch with both the pencil and the gloss.
