A few years ago (and perhaps even now) the word ‘smock’ would make me recoil in disgust. The infamous smock was for a while, the go-to item for many old-fashioned plus size outlets and were often ill-cut, ill-fitted and shapeless and I would avoid them with a passion.
That was until I came across this ASOS Curve Denim Smock Dress the other day and from looking at the cut, I knew I had to have it. I’m very into oversized and baggy pieces at the moment for a couple of reasons. One, it’s comfortable AF and two, I like the challenge of wearing things that society has always told us (plus size people) not to wear for fear of it not suiting us. F the rules and wear whatever the hell you want.
I teamed the dress with an oversized knit cardigan from River Island Plus and some white Converses for a laid back feel. I absolutely love this look; I think it’s just very ‘me’ at the moment. It’s fun, it’s colourful, it’s comfortable and it’s versatile. What more could you want!
Style notes: The dress is true to size so I would suggest getting it in your correct size. Being oversized, the sleeves are megafat-arm friendly and the seam sits just above the waist. The River Island cardigan is also true to size and very very warm/snug in a cute, oversized way! A definite need.

This look tho, Steph! Loving both the dress and the cardigan. Yes, to all the smocks. There’s a black one I saw on Jay Miranda last year and I haven’t stopped thinking about it.
